  • Program a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) using MCOSOMOS Mitutoyo software, creating calibration programs for fixtures, model blades, Op proving and FAIR programs to validate production inspection processes.

  • Program and operate a 3D structured light system (GOM ScanBox) and analyse data using Polyworks IMInspect software to support calibration, tooling, reference data collection and FAIR validation.

  • Work closely with Operations and Engineering to prioritise workloads, providing shop floor support with CMM and GOM assets and troubleshooting.

  • Carry out First Article Inspections (FAI) on new turbine components, proving the integrity of production and inspection fixtures.

  • Use inspection tools such as sine tables, ball pins, slip gauges, micrometers, verniers and height gauges, applying trigonometry and advanced mathematical calculations.

  • Maintain blade inspection standards, including Quality Assurance Standard (QAS) audits of blade records, master blade storage and recording, and compliance with inspection and quality disciplines.

Who we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • A time-served apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) – essential.

  • Experience in programming Polyworks or other CAD software.

Desirable:

  • Practical experience in operating and programming CMM or 3DSL.

  • Strong understanding of casting, machining and tooling drawings, including geometric and dimensional tolerancing (ASME & ISO Standards).

  • Ability to perform trigonometry and compound angle calculations.

  • First principles measurement skills using sine tables, height gauges, sine bars and slip gauges.
