What you will be doing

Reporting to the Head of Logistics, this Logistics manager role will be the primary lead for the lean logistics plan for every part methodology focused on improvement (safety, quality, cost, delivery & people) of the end-to-end value stream from vendor to point of use.

Delivering these responsibilities by inspiring and engaging the extended P&C organisation in Manufacturing Operations and Procurement, the key focus will be to ensure logistics budgets and improvement targets are met and the best logistics processes are deployed and standardised across the supply chain. These challenges will require strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work cross-functionally and the professional credibility to influence at all levels.

Where the activity is executed by a 3PL, the logistics manager is accountable for ensuring the 3PL organisation is managed in accordance with the service level agreements and is responsible for the reporting and control of standard metrics (SQCDP), maintaining customer service levels.

Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies an lead improvement programmes for inbound condition of supply optimisation, returnable packaging, lineside logistics and parts presentation. Including supporting digital systems and business processes.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on Plan For Every Part, Packaging and Lineside Logistics (including relevant RRMS S7 Manage Logistics processes) across Manufacturing Operations.
  • Manage the capability development of the team and provide functional support for the deployed logistics resource across planning and control. Designing and developing training as appropriate.
  • Ownership of the global Sabre PPL (Protection, Packaging and Labelling document) and associated forms: Packaging and labelling sheet and Packaging good spots.
  • Responsibility for biannual UK government packaging waste reporting.
  • Engagement with key functional groups, (Global Indirect purchasing, finance, group property, risk and insurance, quality, compliance, taxation and export controls) to ensure logistics operations are compliant to RRMS
  • 3PL operational contract management including day-to-day operational support, attending monthly and quarterly business reviews and having a clear understanding of the spend profile and key drivers.

  • Has relevant previous experience in a P&C or Business Improvement role
  • Has the professional credibility to guide the operational team
  • Strong analysis and planning skills
  • Experience in managing programmes and applying programme management methodology
  • Problem solving & Black Belt capability or experience
